Everyone Benefits When Community Leaders Work Together

Be SMART is a proud founding partner of Injury Free Coalition for Kids’ National Injury Prevention Day. Every year, we come together with other leaders in injury and violence prevention to raise awareness about the burden of injury, violence, and the need for change.

Be SMART and NOBLE have joined forces to distribute Be SMART palm cards and gun locks in communities through the, “It Starts at Home” campaign. Dozens of NOBLE members across the country have pledged to join the program in their city.

Since the launch of the Be SMART program in 2015, Be SMART has had a long and fruitful partnership with the National PTA. The organization has consistently amplified information about secure firearm storage and shared secure firearm resources with its membership.

Keeping guns out of the hands of children and those at risk of harming themselves or others is the focus of the partnership between the Presbyterian Office of Public Witness and Be SMART. Over one million Presbyterians nationwide and other members of the public can access educational materials and volunteer training from Be SMART on a new section of OPW’s website.

Be SMART and Safe Kids Worldwide work together to find opportunities to connect Safe Kids and Be SMART networks in communities across the country to maximize their joint interest in education and awareness-raising activities at the grassroots level and the goal of strengthening local partnerships.

In medical schools across the country, Be SMART volunteers and SAFE chapters have opportunities to team up to educate future medical professionals on ways to address one of our nation’s most pressing public health challenges.

White Castle has integrated Be SMART resources into their employee Wellness Resource Guide and hosted in-person Be SMART events in the areas they serve that are hardest hit by gun violence. White Castle’s headquarters are in Columbus, OH.

On Earth Peace is an independent nonprofit organization developing leaders for justice and peace using the discipline of Kingian Nonviolence and is a recognized agency of the Church of the Brethren, a “Historic Peace Church.” They share Be SMART educational materials from Be SMART with their members.

Kennedy Krieger Institute has committed to spreading the word about secure storage as it provides interdisciplinary care to children, adolescents, and many adults with disorders and injuries of the brain, spinal cord, and musculoskeletal system through patient care, special education, research and professional training, and community programs. Patients come from all 50 states and more than 23 foreign countries for care.
