Be SMART’s impact has reached every state. All over the country, volunteers have distributed Be SMART materials to their community, provided free gun locks, educated about secure gun storage, and more.

Secure Gun Storage Conversations on Display
Take a closer look at some of the innovative initiatives that are making an impact and raising awareness.
Rhode Island Public Library
The Rhode Island Be SMART team partnered with the RI Department of Health to make free gun locks along with Be SMART information available for free at all state libraries. Currently, there are 11 libraries participating. The partnership also works with RI Vets and RI AfSP. The program, Locks for Life, is posted at all participating libraries.
Hawaii Operation Driver Excellence
and Traffic Safety Fair
The Hawaii Be SMART team tabled at the Hawaii State Department of Education’s Operation Driver Excellence & Traffic Safety Fair in Honolulu, sharing the Be SMART message, including the importance of secure firearm storage in vehicles. Families were especially interested in the demonstration lockbox with a biometric sensor and keypad and in options specifically for cars and trucks, such as console safes.
